I founded Faces of Social Work in June 2020 following years of frontline child protection practice across multiple Local Authorities.
Across different boroughs and teams, I observed consistent structural challenges, increasing bureaucratic demands, cultural pressures within organisations, high staff turnover, and the emotional strain placed on practitioners. These were not isolated experiences. They reflected broader systemic patterns within the profession.
I entered social work with a strong sense of purpose and responsibility. I continue to believe deeply in its potential to protect, support and strengthen families. However, sustaining that potential requires honest reflection about the realities practitioners face and the environments in which they operate.
Faces of Social Work was created to provide that space for reflection, a platform for thoughtful dialogue about practice, leadership, professional culture and systemic improvement.
Over time, the vision expanded beyond conversation. I recognised that strengthening practice must also involve strengthening communities. This led to the development of Boys II Leaders, a community-based leadership initiative supporting boys from single-parent households to build confidence, resilience and positive identity.
My work is grounded in lived frontline experience, reflective practice, and a commitment to integrity. I believe in accountability, professional courage, and the importance of keeping people at the centre of decision-making.
Faces of Social Work represents a commitment to steady, meaningful progress within the profession and within the communities it serves.
