When we first set out to create Boys II Leaders, we made a promise to ourselves that this programme would be shaped by the community—not simply designed behind a desk.
Over the past few weeks, parents, carers and professionals have been sharing their thoughts through our community survey, and we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has taken the time to contribute to this. As a newly established grassroots organisation, we believe the strongest community programmes are built with the community, not simply for it.
Several key themes have consistently emerged so far, including the importance of:-
- Building confidence and self-esteem
- Developing leadership skills
- Improving communication and emotional intelligence
- Positive male role models and mentorship
- Safe environments where boys can belong and thrive
Many of you have also shared fantastic ideas, including public speaking, debates, practical life skills, immersive activities and community projects that allow boys to lead by example.
We’re listening.
Every response is helping us refine the programme and ensure it reflects the needs of today’s young people and the aspirations of their families.
This is only the beginning. As Boys II Leaders continues to develop, we’ll be sharing regular updates, behind-the-scenes insights and opportunities for the community to continue shaping the project.
